The official Fastcoin packages for Linux (.deb and .rpm and .tgz, x32 and x64)

Well, I promised I'd create them, so I have. Here are installable packages for fastcoin-qt, the official Fastcoin wallet. They are an all-in-one package to begin your Fastcoin experience on Linux. Easy install, easy access, very user friendly. Please note that fastcoin-qt was not created by me - I have only compiled and packaged this software.

Debian / Ubuntu / Mint - Version 0.4
amd64 (x64) DEB package
i386 (x32) DEB package

Fedora / Redhat - Version 0.4
amd64 (x64) RPM package
i386 (x32) RPM package

Note: The RPM packages were created using alien, and are experimental. If you have tried them, please confirm that they work below.

Slackware / Other Distributions - Version 0.4
amd64 (x64) TGZ package
i386 (x32) TGZ package

Note: The TGZ packages were created using alien, and are experimental. If you have tried them, please confirm that they work below.

If you like my work, and want to give me a little incentive to create more useful software, I'd be very grateful if you could send a donation my way:

Excellent Job Zesterer,

I will inform the team and let both our Webmaster and marketing know what you have done here.  The sooner we can make this public the sooner we can satisfy our growing demand from the Linux community.

Thanks for the praise :)

I'm working on a little Gtk concept mock-up of what I think the future Fastcoin client should look like... It's looking pretty neat so far!

Haha, thanks. I'm by no means a Linux guru, but I've been using it for a year or two now so I know my way around :)

As to the mockup, I'll have a little preview screenie up and ready soon.

Ok everyone, I've realised you'll also need the package "libdb_dev" > 5.1 to run this. I've updated the readme file in the zip. Just something to be aware of when running this. If it's not working, try running it in terminal, and tell me the output :)

Get it here if you need it (debian/ubuntu-based systems only, sorry!) http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/package/core/precise/main/base/libdb-dev
If that doesn't work, also maybe try this:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install libminiupnpc-dev

Thanks for the tip Zesterer,

Its good that we are making progress on the Linux side, I guess it would not be much of a stretch to get something going on the iOS side for iPhone and iPad?  I know there are many teams working in private on this, we would like to accelerate the progress as our market response has been tremendous to get a wallet on the iPhone.  For anyone interested I started a new thread here...

Hi,

I unfortunately don't have much expertises in this area, although I do have a few app developer friends. It would be interesting to see where this goes. No doubt the hardest part will be addressing the backend code, and allowing the app to compress data - after all, it needs to hold an entire blockchain!

Everyone else, here is the current status of my Gtk mockup for the new client. I've built 0% of the backend, and as of yet I don't plan to. At the moment, it's just something to get ideas flowing.

Enjoy!

I like the screen shot, it helps to better understand how it's supposed look like, what version of Linux did you say you compiled this on again?

elementary OS 0.2, which is based on Ubuntu 12.04. I'll hopefully try to only use older packages though to avoid annoying circumstances...
